I got these two beautiful drink tumblers today!

I finally got the Vanity Fair issue!

I was a little miffed that they used the subtitle, “THE LOST NUDES” as a marketing ploy to sell magazines, because the “nudes” featured are Lawrence Schiller’s photos from Something’s Got to Give, and in my opinion, those photos are far from “lost!” I’m curious as to why they didn’t choose one of his photos for the cover. Instead they chose one of Marilyn taken by Andre de Dienes in 1949, when the story is Schiller’s from 1960 and on. Again, I think it was a way to try to sell magazines, and I’m not ok with that. I find it a bit exploitative. The “nudes” themselves aren’t what mots people would expect under that headline and cover photo.

There were parts of the article I really liked, and some parts I didn’t so much like. To the best of my knowledge, I think Schiller’s story is accurate. Overall I believe that Marilyn is portrayed in a positive light, though I prefer the last Vanity Fair cover story featuring Marilyn, about Fragments.

For Christmas my mom got me this set of four Marilyn plates! They are so cute! I am going to get a shelf for them and put them on a shelf as decorations :]
